Rare Earth Elements International Summit Held in Ankara

The Rare Earth Elements (REE) International Summit was held in Ankara, the capital of the Republic of Türkiye on February 21-22, 2024, with the participation of Project beneficiaries, national and international sectoral participants, and stakeholders. 

Opening speeches of the summit started with; the Rector of Munzur University, Mr. Prof. Dr. Kenan PEKER, Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Türkiye, Ambassador, Mr. Nikolaus Meyer LANDRUT, Minister of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Türkiye, Mr. Mehmet Fatih KACIR. 

The Summit, in which information and technological developments on rare earth elements were conveyed, was held for two days. Extensive presentations and panel discussions by national and international experts attracted great interest during the Summit. Critical subjects such as the global REE supply chain, associated risks and opportunities, and recycling of REEs from primary and secondary resources were discussed at the Summit, which stressed the importance of the REE sector.

The closing speeches of the Summit were made by the officials of the Ministry of Industry and Technology, General Directorate of Industry, Deputy General Manager, Mr. Serkan ÇELİK, and Mr. Hilmi AKIN, Deputy Director General of EU and Foreign Affairs the project’s end recipient.
